Pierson Ties Three Point Record In Win

Carlton senior, Cade Pierson, tied the school record for three pointers in a game, held by Matt Ostby, by hitting nine from deep in the Bulldogs 106-78 victory over the Silver Bay Mariners on Thursday night.

 

The Bulldogs held a narrow 39-30 lead at halftime but burst onto the scene in the second half, outscoring the Mariners 67-48 to secure the Polar League victory.

 

Pierson also led the way for the Bulldogs with 33 points in the victory. Fellow senior, Adam Ermatinger, also had a great performance, scoring 23 in the win. Tyler Ojibway would follow, tallying 16 points and Dominic Bennett also hit double digits with 10 points. Also scoring in the victory was Jackson Mickle and Eric Soderstrom both with 8, Nate Nilsen with 4, and Ryan Adams and Efren Morales-Cruz rounding it out with 2 each.

 

For the Mariners, Michael Fischer and Jason Blood each scored 20 points and were followed by Spencer Tiboni who had 18, including five from deep. Brandon Johnson tallied 9 in the loss, Mitchell Blomberg and Sean Bergman each had 4, and Hunter Monson rounded it out with 3 for the Mariners.

 

The Bulldogs would tally 17 three pointers made in the game, which is their second consecutive game with 15 or more threes made. The Mariners hit 13 from deep in the loss.

 

The Bulldogs improve to 8-14 on the season and will look to continue their winning streak on February 13th when they travel to play Minneapolis Roosevelt. The Mariners are now 4-16 on the season.
