MLA Boys Win In Overtime on Cisar’s Hat Trick

It took an overtime goal by Tyler Cisar, but eventually the Moose Lake Area boys hockey team defeated the WSFLG Blizzard on the road at Grantsburg, Wisconsin on Tuesday night 4-3.

WSFLG is a cooperative program made up of; Webster, Siren, Frederic, Luck and Grantsburg and they play their games mainly in Grantsburg Hockey Arena.

The Blizzard started strong and had the Rebels on their heels following the first period in which WSFLG held a 2-0 lead on the strength of goals by Joe Engelhart and Aaron Dietmeier on the power play.

The Rebels stormed back in the second period to tie the game on goals by Chris Gassert and Tyler Cisar. Gassert’s goal was assisted by Josh Cisar at 4:40 and Tyler Cisar’s goal was assisted by Gassert and Zach Cisar and the game was even at 2-2 after two periods.

It looked like the Rebels had clinched a win at the 13:51 mark of the third period when Tyler Cisar added his second goal of the game on the power play with Zach Cisar assisting, but the Blizzard answered with a goal of their own less than a minute later to send the game to overtime.

Enter Tyler Cisar, who picked up the winning goal and completed his hat trick at 1:56 of overtime. Zach and Josh Cisar assisted on the game-winner.

The Blizzard outshot the Rebels 15-11 in the first period, but MLA took control of the shot clock in the third period with a dominating 24-7 advantage in the final stanza. For the game the Rebels outshot the Blizzard 46-32 with MLA goalie, Austin Lanoue, making 29 saves and Thomas Labatt 42 saves for WSFLG.
