The Moose Lake-Willow River boys baseball team got back on track Tuesday by defeating the Silver Bay Mariners
with a score of 10-6. The Rebels rebound from a disappointing weekend at the Hinckley-Finlayson tournament.

“Silver Bay is a good team,” head coach Lyle Halverson told Northland Sports Online. “When we can get a win over them especially up there, it is a great win.” Halverson mentioned. “It was also nice to get back on track after losing two games we should have won.” he added.

Dan Anderson hammered out a grand slam home run against the Mariners, causing a big blow.
He finished 3-4, besides the home run. He also had a triple and six runs batted in. Rajean Carlson was 1-3 with 2 RBIs, Nate Zuk was 1-3 with an RBI, and Adam Ryan was 1-3 with a double and a run batted in.

Rudy Ketchum was the winning pitcher on Tuesday, striking out five Mariners in the process. Ketchum “did a great job on the mound for us,” Coach Halverson would add. Ketchum took over for Anderson who started the game for the Rebels.

Moose Lake-Willow River improves to 10-4 overall on the season and will take on Esko Thursday in Moose Lake. The Mariners fall to 3-8 on the season and are in action again next Monday as they travel to Cromwell to take on the Cardinals.

The Moose Lake-Willow River
vs. Esko game will be broadcasted on WMOZ 106.9 on Thursday afternoon.
