Eskomos Stay Unbeaten in Win Over Cromwell

The Esko Eskomos improved to 18-0 on the season as the state’s fourth ranked team in Class AA knocked off the Cromwell Cardinals in a Polar League contest 83-28 at Cromwell High School Thursday night. With the win over Cromwell, the Eskomos seal the Polar League Championship for the first time since 2007.


The Eskomos were led by sophomore center Savanna Trapp, who finished with a game high 23 points that went along with eight rebounds and nine blocked shots on the night. The Eskomos started strong on Thursday by pouring in 51 first half points while their defense held the Cardinals to only 11 first half points.


The second half saw the Eskomos continue to play well and increase their lead as they went on to the fifty-five point road win. The loss by Cromwell drops their conference record to 5-7 overall and they fall to 8-11 overall on the season.


The Eskomos had ten players get in the scoring column on Thursday night led by Trapp with her 23 points, Keely Deadrick scored 14, Lydia Pelletier and Megan Reuer each ended with 9 points, Marisa Shady, Alyson Glumac, and Danielle Salo all finished with 6 points, Bailey Mudek and Brooke Schramm each had 4, and Erika Shady ended with 2 points in the Eskomos victory.


Lisa Peterson finished with a team high 10 points on the night for Cromwell, Allie Cahoon added 9, and Marlene Wester finished with 5, Emily Hendrickson and Kaylan Risacher closed the Cromwell scoring with 2 points each in the Cardinal loss.


Esko’s guard tandem of Marisa Shady and Alyson Glumac combined for seventeen assists on the night as the Eskomos keep rolling along in the win column. The Eskomos will be back in action again on Monday night when they face the ninth ranked Pequot Lake Patriots in a girl’s basketball matchup. That game is at Pequot Lakes High School at 7:30 pm.


The Cromwell Cardinals will be looking to get back into the win column again on Monday when they have another Polar League battle when they host the Floodwood Polar Bears at Cromwell High School.
