Wrenshall Sneaks Past Carlton

The Wrenshall Wrens traveled to Carlton on Friday night to square off with their rivals, squeaking by with a 61-60 victory on the night.

It was a back and forth matchup, that saw the Wrens lead by 15 at one point in the second half, and eventually squeak by with the victory after Jessie Ellerbe hit a free throw with 13 seconds remaining to secure the win for the Wrens.

Ellerbe led the Wrens in scoring, notching 20 on the night. Aaron Adkins scored 11 and Kyle Laveau added 10. Also scoring for the Wrens was Luke Vine and Trent Olson with 6 each and Chase Morneau and Andrew Frank each scored 4 in the win.

Scoring for Carlton in the heartbreaking loss was Dominic Bennett with a team high 13 points, followed by Adam Ermantinger with 11 and Jackson Mickle with 10. Matt Hey, Tyler Ojibway, and Eric Soderstrom all pitched in 7 in the loss and Cade Pierson rounded it out with 5.

The Wrens improve to 8-3 on the season and extend their winning streak to 6. They will look for another win on January 12th when they travel to play the Silver Bay Mariners. The Carlton Bulldogs drop to 4-7 on the season and will look to bounce back against Floodwood on the road on January 13th.
