Lady Rebels hold off Agates

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels held off a late run from the Two Harbors Agates as the Rebels beat the Agates 59-53 Thursday night in Moose Lake.

The Rebels who led at halftime 30-17 built up a 19 point lead early in the second half, but a gritty Agate squad continued to fight till the end as they would cut the lady Rebel lead down to four points at 55-51 but some late free throws sealed the win for the Rebels.

Adri Jusczak scored 9 points int he first half as the Rebels dictated tempo and pace of play as the Rebels looked like a sure win moving early into the second half. The Agates used a driving offense as they continued to drive to the basket create would from the Rebels and worked their way back into the game from the free throw line.

Two Harbors shot 29 second half free throws and 39 total for the game as the Agates made things interesting down the stretch. This game saw a combined 59 free throws and the Rebels shooting 70% from the charity stripe as the difference in the game as Two Harbors was 19-39 from the free throw line.

Jusczak passed the Rebels with 17 points and she was 5-8 from the free throw line. Morgan Pracher ended with 11, Libbie Ring added 9 points, and Lauren Ross and Jenna Ramberg each chipping in with 6 points.

The Agates were paced by Ayla Lemke who finished with a game high 22 points including 9-15 from the free throw line. Brianna Stuberud had 14 points and Brianna McGrath ended with 10 points on the night.
