Esko Boys Remain Undefeated With Win Over Floodwood

The Esko Eskomos used two balanced halves of basketball Tuesday night as they defeated the Floodwood Polar Bears 70-46 in this Conference match-up. The win keeps the Eskomos unbeaten on the season and undefeated in conference play. The Eskomos are 4-0 on the season in conference play and currently in second place in the conference standings behind Moose Lake-Willow River. The Rebels are 5-0 in conference play.


The Eskomos jumped out early in the first half over Floodwood as Adam Eskuri opened the game with two straight three-pointers and that gave Esko the entire cushion they would need as they win by twenty four points. The Eskomos continued to roll offensively in the first half , building an 18 point lead midway through the first half, then closed out the half in front 34-21.


The second half saw much of the same for Esko as they continued to add to their lead. Esko had built a twenty plus point leads midway through the second half and was never challenged as Floodwood struggled all night long. The Eskomos finished shooting over 50% from the field for the game where as Floodwood shot 36% on the night.


Adam Eskuri led the Eskomos with 19 points on the night including 3 three-pointers. Jackson Lindquist and Jake Stainbrook each finished with 15, Jared Harms finished with 8 points, Andrew Wendland and Riley Mudek both ended with 4, Cory Deadrick added 3, and Marc Peterson closed the Esko scoring with 2 points.


The Polar Bears were led by Zach Heggedahl, who had 17 points in the Floodwood loss. Ross Schminski had 15 for Floodwood, followed by Riley Bernsdorf with 7, Jared Heggedahl with 5, and Anthony Holsonback finished with 2 points in the losing effort.


Esko moves to 9-0 on the season and will be in action again on Friday when they host McGregor in a Polar League battle. They will also play on Saturday when they will face Virginia in a sectional battle in Virginia. Floodwood falls to 5-5 overall, they will play at home Thursday against Nashwauk-Keewatin.
