Kucza’s Hot Shooting Leads Hawks To Victory

Cory Kucza continued his hot shooting streak as the Hermantown Hawks downed the Two Harbors Agates Thursday night in a non-conference match up at Two Harbors High School. The Hawks downed the Agates by a final score of 63-22.


Kucza hot shooting this season continued as the senior guard poured in 25 points overall with 19 of those 25 coming in the first half. The first half also saw the Hawks build a 39-7 lead and never looked back as they rolled to the forty one point win.


Kucza’s hot shooting included seven three pointers in the Hermantown victory. Jake Lesar added 12 points and Corey Anderson chipped in with 11 points in the victory. The rest of the Hawks scoring was Kevin Folman with 6, Jeff Schade added 5, Steven Borndal had 2, and Kevin Quillen rounding out the scoring with 2 points also.


“Again it was another great defensive effort by everyone.” Head Coach Michael Pothast told Northland Sports Online. “We are playing our best defense of the year, and we are going to need it with the toughest stretch of our season coming up.” Pothast added “Starting with Central on Tuesday.”


The Hawks will be at home for this tough stretch, after Central they will follow up with games against Hibbing, Duluth East, Grand Rapids, before closing out this home stretch with a contest versus the Cloquet Lumberjacks.


The Hawks improve their overall record to 10-4 on the season. They have won four straight games. The Hawks are also 4-1 in conference play.
