Mirage Outskate Silver Bay for 6-2 Victory

Nicole Mathews scored a pair of goals and the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall girls hockey team skated away to a 6-2 victory over Silver Bay Area on Tuesday night.

After a Taylor Skelton goal gave the Mariners a lead just :37 seconds into the game the Mirage scored back-to-back goals in the first period at 2:14 and 15:44 from Reilly Fawcett and Mathews as PHM went up 2-1 after the first break.

Second period action saw Abby Miner score at 2:08 on the power play making it 3-1 for the Mirage and then Mathews and Emy Albert pumped in scores at 5:13 and 11:45 respectively giving PHM a 5-1 edge after two periods.

Skelton scored her second goal of the game for the Mariners at the 7:34 mark of the third period with a shorthanded effort which cut the lead to 5-2, but Emma Stauber ended the scoring for the Mirage at 10:32 with an unassisted goal.

The Mirage outshot the Mariners 33-12.
