CEC Boys To Play In Amsoil Arena

Leaky pipes in the refrigeration system at Wessman Arena have forced the UWS Mens and Womens hockey teams to move their practices and game to the DECC. That breakdown has now affected the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey team as well.

What is a problem for the Wessman arena staff turns out to be a bonus of sorts for the Jacks. CEC’S game against Superior on Thursday, January 13th was slated to take place at Wessman Arena. The game has been moved to the new Amsoil Arena, giving the Lumberjacks their first look at the new facility. CEC and Superior will square off at 7:00pm instead of the regularly scheduled 7:30pm.

CEC is looking forward to the change of venue. “It is always exciting to have the opportunity to play in a new facility.” Lumberjacks Head Coach Dave Esse told Northland Sports Online. Adding, “This will be a great experience for the kids.”

The experience could also prove useful for CEC should they advance in the 7AA playoffs. Both the Semi-Finals and Section 7AA finals will be held in the new arena on Feb 26 and March 3rd. “It’s good to get a look at the arena before the playoffs, hopefully we can work hard and get back there.” Commented Esse.

The CEC vs. Superior junior varsity game will take place on Jan 14 at 7:15 at the DECC.
