AlBrook Girls Have Tough Time Against Cook County

The Cook County Vikings made the trip down the shore Thursday and the made the ride back home a bit more enjoyable as the Vikings defeated the Falcons by a final score of 57-21. Cook County jumped out to an early first half lead of 32-9 and cruised to the thirty six point win at AlBrook High School.


Senior forward Brea Boomer had a huge game for the Vikings as she would lead all scorers with 24 points on the night. Junior guard Ashley Deschampe added 16 points including two three-pointers in the victory.


The huge road win for Cook County moves them to 7-1 overall on the season, they also improve to 3-0 in the section and they are also 3-1 in conference play. The Vikings only loss was an early season defeat to Esko.


Other Viking scoring was Ailee Larson who added 9 points including a three pointer; Molly Zafft added 4 points, Taylor Ryden and Bekah Laky both closed the Vikings scoring with 2 points on the night.


The Falcons, bit a bit by the injury bug played without star Kourtney Karppinen also saw Kendra Dallmann working to get her legs back under her in her first game back from an injury. They were led in scoring by Mikayla Olesiak who finished with 8 points in the loss at home: Olesiak also added two three-pointers for the Falcons. Angela Redding and Marissa Thibault each had 4 points, Alyssa Johnsons scored 2 points, and Dallmann added 1 for AlBrook.


The Falcons fall to an overall record of 2-4 on the season, they also fall to 2-3 in sectional play. They are next in action on Monday January 10th when the will host Orr in another huge sectional contest at home.
