Clydesdale’s Tamasy Named Player of the Week

The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Julius Tamasy of the Duluth Clydesdales has been named the opening Pizza Hut player of the week for 2011.

In three games this past week the 20-year-old Duluth native racked up eight points on two goals and six assists.

Tamasy registered an assist in his club’s final game of 2010 vs. Fort Frances and then piled up seven points helping the Clydesdales sweep a pair against the visiting Thunder Bay North Stars over the weekend.

He notched the tying goal and set-up two others, including the game-winner, in a 5-2 Duluth triumph on Saturday and followed that up by scoring again while assisting on the deciding marker and dishing out two other helpers in a 7-5 victory Sunday evening.

The forward also extended his consecutive game point streak to seven straight contests where he has registered 13 points including three goals in that span. For his on-ice efforts Tamasy will receive a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honorable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Nathan Paulsen (D) Wisconsin Wilderness; Zach McCool, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Spencer Hogan (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.

Note—Both the Dryden and Sioux Lookout had no nominees as they did not play last week.
