Barnum Girls Remain Perfect On The Season

The Barnum Bombers girls basketball team continues to roll along in this first half of the season as they defeated the Floodwood Polar Bears for the second time this season, this time at Floodwood by a score of 58-49.

The Bombers and the Polar Bears battled the first half very closely with the Bombers holding onto a three point 28-25 lead at halftime. The Bombers extended that lead in the second half and finally pulled away with the nine-point road win.

The victory moves the Bombers to 11-0 overall and improves their conference record to 5-0 on the season. The Lady Bombers also remain perfect in section play with a 4-0 overall record.

The Bombers were led Monday night by senior Jessica Newman, who finished with a game high 15 points on the night. Katie Myhre added 13 points including 3 three-pointers. Daron Mainville scored 13 points, Claudia Turner added 9, Jaiden Cofield added 4, and Karianna Duesler chipped in with 3 points to close out the Barnum scoring.

Maija Rauvola, who scored 11 points, led the Polar Bears. Shawna Behrendt ended with 10, Kim Larva, Alissa Autio, and Ryanne Bailey all had 6 points each. Molly Johnson and Molly Durovec each added 5 points in the loss for Floodwood.

The Bombers are in action again on Thursday when they will host the Wrenshall Wrens, and again on Saturday when they play a boys and girls doubleheader with New Life Academy. Saturday’s action begins at 2:00 pm.
