Section 7A Boys Soccer Semifinals Preview

Section 7A has come down to 4 teams; Cloquet, Chisago Lakes, Hermantown, and Monticello.

No. 5 Cloquet will battle No. 1 Chisago Lakes for a spot in the Section finals. Cloquet got to the semifinals by defeating North Branch in a shootout after a 1-1 tie, winning the shootout 4-2 to advance. They then toppled Big Lake to secure their spot against Chisago Lakes. Chisago Lakes had a bye from the first round for being the top seed, and then went on to beat Grand Rapids 5-0 to advance.

Hermantown traveled to play Monticello in the other semifinals matchup. Hermantown, the 3rd seed, got to the semifinals by beating North Lakes Academy 19-0 in the first round, and then bouncing Proctor in the 2nd round by a score of 7-0. 2nd seeded Monticello, received a bye from the first round, and then went on to narrowly escape Duluth Marshall 1-0.

The winners of the two games will battle in the Section 7A finals on Thursday in Chisago Lakes.
