Jacks – Hawks Fall in Section Tennis

The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks and the Hermantown Hawks both fell in sectional tennis action Monday. The Lumberjacks the number 13 seed fell to the number four seeded Thunderhawks of Grand Rapids.

The Hermantown Hawks were the number 8 seed in section 7AA but were upset by the number 9 seed Andover Huskies. The Huskies upset the Hawks 5-1 in team play Monday, while it was the Lumberjacks getting swept by the Thuderhawks by a score of 7-0.

Duluth East the number 2 seed in the section 7AA playoffs moved on with a 7-0 victory over cross town rival Duluth Denfeld.

Andover’s victory over Hermantown will have the Huskies meeting the top seeded Princeton Tigers. The Greyhounds will face Chisago Lakes in Tuesday’s quarterfinals in team competition, number 3 Elk River hosts Forest Lake.

Grand Rapids will host Cambridge-Isanti who had defeated Hibbing Monday afternoon.

Virginia and Eveleth-Gilbert were winners in section 7A sectional action, Virginia topped Duluth Marshall by a 6-1 margin, and it was the Golden Bears upsetting Aitkin by a score of 4-3.
