A late goal by the Esko Eskomos made things interesting on Thursday night, but in the end the Cloquet-Carlton Lumberjacks had just enough left in the gas tank to pull out a 2-1 victory in girls high school soccer.

Kayla Baker gave the Jacks a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute with an assist by Anna Fossen. That goal stood as the only goal of the first half.

Baker scored her second goal of the game from Fossen in the 51st minute of the second half as the Jacks pulled ahead 2-0.

Bailey Mudek got the Eskomos to within 2-1 in the 66th minute on an assist by Bailey Pantsar, but that was all the closer Esko would get.

Brandi Nelson had 12 saves in the goal for Cloquet and Esko’s Macy Sunnarborg finished with three saves on five shots.
