Jacks Sweep Oredockers

The Cloquet volleyball team used home court to their advantage in picking up a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Ashland Oredockers on Thursday night. The win makes the Jacks the front runners for the Lake Superior Conference title with three more conference games left.

Kassidy Steen led the Jacks offense with 15 kills in the 25-14, 25-14 and 25-19 win. The Jacks used their depth to their advantage both on offense and defense. Alex Oakes added eight kills and 11 set assists and Sami Westendorf chipped in with 21 set assists and seven ace serves. Taylor Leyre was impressive in the back row with 21 digs and Callie Holm was also strong in the back with 14 digs.

The Oredockers got six kills from Nicole Hutsen and five from Breanna Hambuch, but the Jacks were just too strong physically at the net and dominated the match.

Cloquet is still undefeated in conference play, while the loss was the first of the year for the Oredockers.
