Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College has received oral commitments next season from eight area players. The Thunder are coming off their second season in school history, a season in which they won 20 games for the first time and advanced to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference State Tournament for the first time.

Making oral commitments from the Class of 2009 were Ana Engelemeier (outfield) of Hermantown, Lisa Muehlberger (3rd base) of Duluth Central, Mia Saunders (pitcher/infield) from Carlton, Jennah Bailey (pitcher/infield) and Taylor Heavirland (infielder) of Floodwood, Jade Kristofferson (pitcher) of Rush City, Kortney Lindberg (infield) of Esko.

“We think that this class will give us some much needed depth,” said coach of the Thunder Kerry Rodd. “We’ll have some power in the line up with a couple of the kids, but we add a little more team speed than we’ve had in the past.”

Joining that group will be former Denfeld shortstop Brittany Yagoda.

“We are still out looking for good athletes who can play the game,” commented Rodd. “We are also looking for a catcher and a bit more speed, but this is an exciting time for Thunder softball.”
