For the first time in school history, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College has an athlete named
1st team All-American in the NJCAA. Stacie Miller, a catcher from Esko, was named to first team status today.

“Stacie was the model of consistency for us,” said Kerry Rodd coach of the Thunder. “Stacie led the country in hitting for two years in a row. She hit .617 this year and she batted .653 a year ago. Those are incredible numbers and I know the entire team, school and coaching staff are extremely happy with her getting the award.”

Miller batted number three in a formidable Thunder line up that included the likes of Leanne Gittings, Natosha Rohloff, Steph Saylor and Jenny Orn.

“I really hope this makes people realize the caliber of player we have on this team,” Rodd explained. “Stacie was an amazing weapon in our line up, but we had some super kids around her as well and those players will all be hard to replace.”

Among her many accomplishments, Miller was among the national leaders in doubles, runs batted in, slugging percentage and she led the nation in on base percentage.

“If we needed a big hit she got it for us,” Rodd said. “Stacie just never tries to do too much and she was a clutch player that was kind of like the UPS guy, she always delivered.”

The Thunder will graduate seven players off this year’s roster and Rodd has been busy beating the bushes looking for a new crop of talent.

“We have some great kids coming in,” Rodd suggested. “Hopefully our new players can take up where the older players left off. It is a challenge, but one we are excited to get after.”
