Ashland Comeback Stops Hawks

The Ashland Oredockers have not beaten the Hermantown Hawks since all the way back in the 2006 season, but Thursday night the Oredockers battled to a 17-25, 25-9, 23-25, 25-13, 15-11 come from behind victory Thursday night.

Hermantown played well in the first set winning 25-17, but the Oredockers battled back to win the second set 25-9. Hermantown won the third set 25-23 in another close contest, and Ashland tied it up at 2 sets a piece after a 25-13 victory in the fourth set. It was another close battle in the fifth set but the Oredockers would prevail at home.

Jordyn Thomas finished with 27 set assists for the Hawks and Jillayne Gilbert ended with 13 kills. The Oredockers were led by Briana Klobucher who had 30 set assists and Breanna Hambuch who ended with 15 kills and 22 digs.

The Hawks fall to 9-5 overall and they will play in the Virginia Invitational this Saturday. Ashland moves to 13-5 and will play in Medofrd this weekend.
