Esko Starts Season 3-0 With Win Over Carlton

CARLTON- It was another short road trip Thursday night as the Eskomos traveled to nearby Carlton to take on the Bulldogs. Behind the 20 point performance of Keely Deadrick and Savanna Trapp adding 17 points, the Eskomos moved to 3-0 on the season with a 78-29 win.

The Eskomos took control early as they worked the ball inside to Trapp and with her height advantage the Bulldogs did not have an answer. Deadrick also started fast as she scored baskets both from the low post and the perimeter.

“We need to continue to work and get better,” Head coach Scott Antonutti told Northland Sports Online. “We have areas which we want and need to get better and the girls are working hard to improve.”

Esko used pressure defense to force the Bulldogs into some turnovers which resulted in some easy baskets. “We didn’t stop fighting,” Head Coach Lisa Johnson told Northland Sports Online. “We are a young team so we need to keep working keep improving and this tough early season schedule will continue to show where we need improvement.”

The Eskomos built up a 48-20 halftime lead and continued to roll in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs by a 30-9 margin. The Bulldogs fall to 1-3 with the loss Thursday night and will have a week to regroup before facing Isle next Friday.

Following Deadrick and Trapp in scoring was Lydia Pelletier with 16 points, Alyson Glumac added 7, Marisa Shady 6, Megan Reuer had 5, and Steph Miller and Stephanie Bandelin each ended with 3 points.

The Bulldogs were led by Savannah Schramm with 8 points, Alanna Groth had 7, Lindsey Dahl-Holm and Clarissa Nelson had 6 points each, while Brooke Camps rounded out the Bulldog scoring Thursday night with 2.

Esko will be back in action on Monday when they make the trip up the shore to take on Cook County at 6:30pm.
