ML-WR Girls Top Wrenshall Now 3-1 On The Season

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels girls basketball team rebounded Thursday night after a tough loss to Aitkin with a 65-9 win over the Wrenshall Wrens. The Rebels improve to 3-1 on the young season and look to keep up the winning ways next week when they host Silver Bay.


The Rebels jumped out to an early first half lead and never looked back as the Rebels led at halftime by a score of 38-6. The Rebels continued to roll in the second half with the Rebels outscoring the Wrens 27-3, to go on to the big Polar Conference win at home.


The Rebels were led by Maddy Adamczak, who had 12 points, Alyssa Jusczak and Julianna Coil each finished with 10 points while Taylor Miller added 8 points including two 3-pointers. The rest of the Moose Lake-Willow River scoring went as follows, Shaeyln Halverson with 7, Katie Ring 5, Adri Jusczak 4, Sam Johnson 3, and Kendra Gay and Shelby Halverson each ended with 2 points on the night.


The Wrenshall Wrens were led in scoring by Natalie Peaney who had 4 points in the loss, Maria Burcar and Taylor Dagger each had 2 points, and rounding out the Wrenshall scoring was Ali Oland who finished with 1 point.


The Wrens fall to 0-3 on the season and they are in action again on Thursday night when they host the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers at Wrenshall High School. They will close out the pre holiday schedule with a game at McGregor on December 20th.
