Girls Basketball

Esko 68 Cloquet 41


Keely Deadrick scored 28 points including four 3-pointers as the Eskomos knocked off the Lumberjacks in Cloquet. Marisa Shady added 10 points in the Esko victory. Annabel Morrisroe finished with 14 points and Kenzie Rathe added 11 points in the loss for the Lumberjacks.

Cook County 69 AlBrook 31


Ashley Deschampe led the Vikings in scoring Tuesday night with 20 points as the Vikings win the sectional match up at home. Ailee Larson added 13 points and Taylor Ryden added 10 for Cook County. Kendra Dallman led the Falcons with 11 points in the road loss.

Aitkin 55 MLWR 44


The Gobblers won their second straight game. They jumped out to an 18-1 lead early and went on to defeat the Moose Lake–Willow River Rebels by eleven points Tuesday night in Aitkin. The Rebels were led by Maddy Adamczak who scored 16 points in the loss for the Rebels.

Boys Basketball

Cook County 52 AlBrook 36


Cook County jumped out to a sixteen point half time lead of 33-17 and never looked back as the Vikings knock off the Falcons in this sectional match-up at home. The Falcons were led in scoring by Bryce Karppinen who scored 18 points including two 3-pointers.

ML-WR 45 Rush City 43


The Rebels won a close battle Tuesday night in Willow River as they opened their 2010-2011 season. The Rebels struggled with shooting from the floor, but were sparked by Mike Bennett who nailed two big 3-pointers off the bench. Trevor Nummela scored 17 points for the Rebels.

Barnum 60 Carlton 18


The Barnum Bombers had 10 players score Tuesday night as the Bombers knocked off the Bulldogs in this Polar League contest in Carlton. Josh Hogan scored 13 points and Danny Warpala added 12 in the win. Matt Lund led the Bulldogs with 8 points.

Grand Rapids 81 Cloquet 35


Mike Spoden led a balanced scoring attack as the Thunderhawks defeated Cloquet at home Tuesday night. The Thunderhawks built up a 43-15 lead at halftime and rolled to the forty-six point win. Andy Wappes led the Lumberjacks in scoring with 12 points.

Proctor 63 Two Harbors 35


Kaz Anderson scored a game high 24 points Tuesday night as the Rails defeated the Agates at home. The game was tied at halftime but the Rails outscored Two Harbors 48-20 in the second half to win the section match-up by 28 points. Jon McDonald scored 10 points for the Agates.

Esko 70 Hermantown 56


Jake Stainbrook scored a game high 28 points as the Eskomos defeat Hermantown on the road Tuesday night. Adam Eskuri added 18 points in the Eskomos win. Spencer Johnson led the Hermantown Hawks with 14 points in the loss at home.

Floodwood 63 Wrenshall 52


Zach Heggedahl led the Polar Bears with 20 points Tuesday night as Floodwood beat the Wrens in this Polar League contest. Ross Schminski added 19 points in the win. Brett Johnson scored 28 points including three 3-pointers for the Wrenshall Wrens in the loss.
