BARNUM- when the Barnum Bombers won the state Class A championship last season the Bombers would lose three seniors to graduation. Head Coach Randy Myhre knew he had two solid starters returning, along with several players that saw a lot of playing time that would mesh perfectly into this season’s team. So far in this early season, the Bombers have looked like the state’s top rated team in class A as the rolled over the Carlton Bulldogs on Monday night by a score of 93-31.

“We have been moving the ball really well” Head Coach Randy Myhre told Northland Sports Online. “It’s fun to watch these girls play they share the ball so well.” The unselfish play of the Bombers again showed on Monday as they cruised to a 68-9 lead at halftime. “It seems we have an assist on every basket” Myhre added, “we just need to play within our system and we will be alright.” Things will get tougher on Friday when the Bombers face Fulda as part of a boys and girls double header in Barnum.

The Bombers exploded from the opening tip as Barnum rolled to a 68-9 lead at the break. The first half featured Jessica Newman’s outstanding performance as she scored 33 of her game high 37 points. Claire Rodgers also added 11 points in the first half for Barnum.

Barnum came out strong in the second half as well as Katie Myhre scored 9 of her 16 points in the first few minutes and the Bombers went on to the comfortable win at home. The Bombers move to 3-0 on the season.
