Riding the hot goaltending of Kaitlyn Greene the Moose Lake Area girl’s hockey team took a solid 3-1 win over Simley High School on Saturday.

Greene turned aside all but one of the 33 shots she faced in the game allowing the Rebels to get the win.

Cheyenne Wilson gave MLA a 1-0 lead 2:59 into the first period with an unassisted goal. Wilson made it 2-0 with a second goal at 9:58 of the first with Emily Wasche assisting, but Simley pulled to within a goal at 11:53 when Jessica Pate scored. That would be all the closer Simley would get as the Rebels slammed the door the rest of the way.

The game’s final goal was scored by Jackie Granfors at 12:52 of the third period with Wasche notching the assist for the second time in the game.

Kristen Jung made 18 saves for Simley.

With the win the Lady Rebels are now 3-3 on the season and will look to move above the .500 mark when they hose Chisago Lakes Area on Tuesday at Riverside Arena.
