In hockey, goals sometimes come in bunches, for the Proctor Rails those bunches continued on Saturday when the Rails beat Legacy Christian Academy 8-0 at the Schwann Super Rink in Blaine. The win puts Proctor 3-0 on the young season.

In its first three games of the season, Proctor has outscored their opponents 32-3. Besides Saturdays 8-0 shutout of LCA, the Rails had no problem scoring goals in a 15-1 season opening win at Two Harbors and a 9-3 victory over Mora-Hinckley-Finlayson.

On Saturday Proctor used a five goal first period to open up the contest and put the game out of reach. The Rails got first period goals from Jesse Scanlon, Ian Ecklund, another goal from Scanlon, Jeremy Lopez, and Justin Scanlon to accumulate the 5-0 lead after one period.

Justin Scanlon scored two goals in the second period to garner the hat trick while Lopez tallied his second goal of the game and Proctor went in to the locker room with an 8-0 lead after two periods. A scoreless third period kept the 8-0 mark in tact to give Proctor their third win of the season.

Proctor outshot Legacy Christian 35-12 on the afternoon. Brody Morin stopped all 12 shots for his first shutout of the season. His counterpart Tanner Balk stopped 27 shots in the loss for Legacy Christian Academy.

Proctor will face its real test of the season when the host the Cloquet Lumberjacks on Tuesday at the Proctor Ice Arena.
