Kourtney Karppinen led four Falcon scorers who finished in double figures Thursday as the Falcons defeated the Wrens at AlBrook High School. Kendra Dallmann added 15 while Melissa Thibault and Alyssa Johnson each scored 10 points in the section match-up.

Chisholm 76 Carlton 53


The Chisholm Bluestreaks moved to 2-0 on the young season as the host Bluestreaks defeated sectional opponent Carlton Thursday night in Chisholm. The Bulldogs fall to 1-1 on the season with the loss on the road. Kendra Cappo paced the Bluestreaks with 19 points.

Duluth East 84 Cloquet 52


Duluth East broke the game open midway through the first half going on a 23-7 run to close out the first half as the Greyhounds win the non-conference match-up at home. Annabel Morrisroe led all scorers with 21 points. Alex Freeman led the Greyhounds with 15 points.

Esko 59 Floodwood 58 O.T.


Esko hit 8 out of 10 free throws in overtime as the Eskomos hang on to defeat the Polar Bears by one point Thursday night at home. Keely Deadrick of Esko and Alissa Autio of Floodwood each finished with 23 points on the night as Esko wins this Polar League battle in its home opener.

Cromwell 62 Northland 52


Lisa Peterson scored a game high 21 points Thursday night as the Cardinals defeated the Eagles at Cromwell. The Cardinals led 26-24 at the break and went on to the ten point section win. Makayleigh Cahoon also scored 15 points in the Cromwell victory.

Mesabi East 35 Proctor 33


Kristen Blais scored 12 points as the Giants defeated the Proctor Rails Thursday night in Aurora to improve to 1-1 on the season. The Giants used balanced scoring as seven players scored in the two-point win at home. The Rails open the season 0-1 and face ML-WR Friday night.
