PHM Notches 6-3 Win Over Wayzata

Despite being outshot 16-2 in the final period the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall girls hockey team scored the only two goals in the stanza as they came away with a 6-3 win over Wayzata on Saturday in a game played in Duluth at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Mirage outscored the Warriors 3-1 in the first period as Nicole Mathews, Melina Nelson and Abby Miner made good on their chances for PHM.

Second period action saw Wayzata score back-to-back goals at 3:55 and 12:06 to tie the game at 3-3, but the Mirage countered with an Emma Stauber goal at 12:26 to give PHM a 4-3 lead entering the final period.

The Warriors pumped 16 shots on Mirage goalie Anja Morris, who stopped all of the attempts by Wayzata. Meanwhile the Mirage got goals from Stauber and Emy Albert just 11 seconds into the period and 1:03 into the period to help put the game away.

For the game the Mirage had 21 shots on goalie Stephani Skoro, while Morris stopped a total of 27 shots, while facing 30 shots on goal.
