After suffering a tie and a loss in their first two games of the season the Mirage of Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall were looking to rebound against Hibbing-Chisholm on Tuesday night. The Mirage used a strong third period to pick up their first win 3-1 over the Blue Jackets.

Lexi Sanders gave the Blue Jackets the lead at 8:41 of the second period on the power play, but the Mirage tied the game on a Nikki Mathews power play goal as well at 11:58. Mathews’ goal was assisted by Abby Miner and Emma Stauber and the game was 1-1 entering the final period.

Just 58 seconds into the final period Stauber rocketed a shot by Blue Jacket goalie Dory Johnson for a 2-1 Mirage lead. Stauber ended all hopes of a comeback for HC with a second goal at 16:55 with Ingrid Corwin and Mathews assisting.

Anja Morris made 14 saves on 15 shots for the Mirage while Johnson finished with 26 saves on 29 shots for Hibbing-Chisholm.

Up next for the Mirage will be a Saturday Matinee game against Wayzata at 3:00pm on Saturday.
