The Moose Lake Area girls hockey team has a busy stretch of games in the early season. The Rebels have already played 3 games over a 5 day period and have gone 2-1 during that string of games.

In their season opener last Tuesday the Rebels lost to Pequot Lakes 2-1 as the Rebels outshot their opponent by a huge margin 32-13, but were unable to find a way to beat goalie Katarina Jenson after they were staked to a 1-0 lead. Shannon Wilson scored the first goal of the season with an assist to Emilee Franklin 10:01 into the first period for a 1-0 Rebel lead, but that was all the offense the Rebels could muster the rest of the way.

Pequot Lakes got back-to-back goals by Kaylyn Eggena in the final period to pull out a narrow win.

Rebel goalie Kaitlyn Greene made 11 saves on 13 shots.

Moose Lake Area rebounded to win their next game 3-2 in a game they trailed early on. After giving up a goal 3:18 into the first period the Rebels responded when Emily Wasche lit the lamp for a goal at 6:07 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second period the Rebels notched a goal at 11:52 when Erin Mollberg scored with assists to Wasche and Maggie Unzen, but the Tigers evened things at 2-2 on a goal at 16:52 by Ellie McElhone.

The lone goal of the third period was a tally by Andrea Youngberg at 2:14 with Wasche picking up the assist which proved to be the game winner.

Greene was called on to make 25 saves on 27 shots for the Rebels.

The Rebels then improved their record to 2-1 on Saturday with an impressive 4-1 victory over the Minnehaha Saints a private school in the Twin Cities.

Despite an even number of shots on goal the Rebels were able to do a better job of finishing around the net than the Saints.

MLA scored at 16:48 of the first period when Jackie Granfors picked up a marker with Emilee Franklin getting the assist.

After giving up a goal at 6:41 of the second period that tied the game the Rebels bounced back with a pair of goals as Mollberg and Wilson score within an eight second span at 16:22 and 16:30 for a 3-1 lead entering the final period.

Wasche finished off the scoring in the final period with a goal at 10:32 as Franklin and Greene assisted making it 4-1.

Greene made 22 saves on 23 shots.
