Hawks Take Down Proctor

The Hermantown Hawks played the Proctor Rails in both boys and girls soccer Thursday afternoon, with the boys winning 4-0 and the girls winning 2-0.

The boys got out to a 2-0 lead at halftime with Matt Sandstrom hitting the back of the net first and Dan Hedstrom giving them the 2-0 lead into the half. The second half was much of the same as Hedstrom scored his second goal to give them a 3-0 lead. Finishing up the scoring was Noah Hooey who topped the victory off by scoring Hermantown’s 4th goal.

On the girls side, the game went into the half notched 0-0. The Hawks didn’t wait too much longer as Callie Hoff scored the game winning at the 41st minute. Lyla Abukhodair added insurance in the 56th minute by scoring the Hawks second goal. Delaney Vavra blocked 6 shots in the net for Hermantown, while Proctors goalie stopped 17 shots in the loss.

The boys improve to 3-0-1 on the season, while the girls improve to 3-1 on the season. The boys play Holy Angels on August 29th and then they will play the CEC Lumberjacks (2-2) on September 4th at 7:00pm. The girls next game will be against the Cloquet-Carlton Lumberjacks (1-1), also on September 4th.
