CEC Shut-outs Mesabi East

The CEC Lumberjacks took on Mesabi East on Thursday, going into the half with a 2-0 lead and eventually grabbing the shutout victory by a score of 7-0.

The Lumberjacks got the scoring started early when Dalton Jonson scored off of a PK at the 6 minute mark. Goal Keeper Halen Danielson assisted on the 2nd goal of the game when Nolan Ripp hit the back of the net at the 39th minute which gave the Lumberjacks the 2-0 lead going into the half.

In the second half, Dylan Johnson scored at the 44th minute from a Logan Liimatainen assist. Nolan Ripp would start the late game scoring frenzy by notching his second goal of the game unassisted at the 72nd minute. Just 3 minutes later, Rob Sobczak gave the Lumberjacks a 5-0 lead. Sobczak would then assist on the next goal that came 3 minutes later when Jack Waugh notched another goal for CEC. Waugh wasn’t done helping there, assisting on a goal to Joe Chrstianson at the 79th minute to cap off the scoring for the Lumberjacks and give them a 7-0 victory.

Halen Danielson made two stops for the Lumberjacks to secure the shutout win.

The Lumberjacks will play on August 29th next when they take on Duluth Denfeld (1-2). They will then host the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers (1-1-1) on September 2nd with a 4:30pm start.
