ML-WR Girls Stay Hot By Shutting Out McGregor

The Moose Lake Willow River Rebels continued to stay by downing the McGregor Mercuries on Tuesday by a score of 10-0. The Rebels have now won six games in a row and are playing some great softball.

Katie Youngberg was the winning pitcher. She pitched four innings, gave up no runs, no hits and she struck out nine McGregor batters. Sammy Johnson came in and pitched the top of the fifth inning for Moose Lake-Willow River. She struck out two and gave up one hit. Youngberg and Johnson combined on the one hitter.

Offensively, Kim Ergen went 3-3 and drove in a run. Amanda Larson, Sam Juhl and Mary Moonen were all 2-3 for the Rebels. Katie Youngberg also drove in two runs to help herself at the plate. Molly Wasche added 2 RBIs as the Rebels win this Polar League Conference match-up.

The Rebels improve to 8-1 on the season and will face the conference-leading undefeated Barnum Bombers Thursday in Barnum in a Polar League conference match-up. The Mercuries fall to 7-6 on the season and will host Esko on Thursday afternoon.

Thursday’s softball game between will be broadcasted on WMOZ 106.9 FM pre game 4:20, first pitch approximately 4:30pm.
