AlBrook, Barnum, And Carlton’s Seasons Come To An End

Friday night saw the end of three local schools volleyball seasons as the AlBrook Falcons and the Carlton Bulldogs lost in section 7A volleyball action, and the Barnum Bombers quest to make it back to the section semi-finals ended to East Central in Section 5A playoff action in Askov.


Bekah Laky finished with 14 set assists and 18 digs to lead Cook County in a three game sweep of AlBrook. Brea Boomer added 11 kills and 4 blocks in the Viking win. Kourtney Karppinen led AlBrook with 10 kills, 9 digs, and 6 blocks. Alyssa Johnson had 16 set assists, and Mikayla Olesiak added 20 digs in the Falcons loss.


Babbitt-Embarrass came back after falling behind 2-0 to win three straight games and defeat the Carlton Bulldogs, advancing to the section semi-finals Wednesday night in Virginia. Bailey Rykken led Knights with 30 kills, 12 digs, and 5 blocks in the victory. Jessie LaValley added 19 kills, 14 digs and 4 blocks in the comeback win.


The Barnum Bombers won the first game Friday night against the Eagles of East Central. But poor serving by the Bombers and it was the Eagles winning the next three to advance in the section 5A playoffs with the win at home. Karianna Duesler finished with 16 set assists and 13 digs, and Jessica Newman ended with 9 kills and 13 digs in the loss.
