The Moose Lake-Willow River boys baseball team lost a heartbreaker to Two Harbors this past weekend in Two Harbors. This game had been rescheduled from Thursday, April 30th. The Rebels were looking to make it three in a row, but Two Harbors would answer everything the Rebels put up against them.

“We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn’t get it done,” head coach Lyle Halverson told Northland Sports Online. “We had a four run lead we couldn’t hold,” Halverson said. “Our chances were there. We didn’t come through.”

The Rebels held a four-run lead entering the third inning when Two Harbors scored three runs to cut the lead to 5-4. In the fifth inning, the Agates would score three more runs to take the lead at 7-5. The Rebels would score once in the top of the sixth inning to cut the lead to one at 7-6, but again the Agates answered in the bottom of the sixth with two runs to take a 9-6 lead going into the top of the seventh.

In the top of the seventh, the Rebels would not go away as Joey Bohaty hit a two-run home run to cut the lead to one. Moose Lake-Willow River still would have a chance, but the Rebels stranded Dan Anderson at second as the game ended. Rajean Carlson led the Rebels with a 4-4 effort from the plate.

The Rebels fall to 6-2 on the season, they will take on McGregor on Tuesday. The Agates improve to 8-1 on the season. The Polar League is getting bunched up at the top of the conference standings.
