It was a tough end to the season for the Moose Lake-Willow River volleyball team on Wednesday night. The Rebels played host to Duluth Marshall in the first round of the Section 7AA tournament, but it was the Hilltoppers who slipped into town and left with a surprising 18-25, 27-25, 26-24, 24-26 and 15-12 win.

The scores alone showed how tight a match it was between the two teams. Both teams had their moments to shine in a match that had huge swings of momentum.

After the Rebels won the first game, the next three games were decided beyond regulation time and then the Hilltoppers managed to eke out the three-point win in the final game of the match.

Sierra Lahti led the Hilltoppers with 12 kills and six blocks, Signe Braafladt had eight digs and Tarin Hedquist recorded six kills and eight digs.

Alyssa Jusczak had 18 kills for the Rebels, while Maddy Adamczak and Sheenagh Caroline had 16 and 12 kills respectively. Adamczak added 26 digs and seven ace serves, while Caroline also chipped in with 22 digs. Hayley Johnson added 27 digs in the back row for ML-WR.
