Hogan Runs Past Carlton In Barnum Victory

CARLTON- Barnum wanted to make sure there was no let downs as the Bombers faced the Bulldogs in the regular season final game before section playoffs that begin on Tuesday. Barnum had won three straight games against Carlton entering Wednesday’s game and the Bombers made it four straight. Josh Hogan scored four times as the Bombers defeated the Bulldogs 46-6.


Carlton scored the first touchdown of the game when Colton Godbout scored on an 18 yard touchdown run that put Carlton ahead 6-0. The lead was short lived however as Barnum reeled off 46 straight points in the win over the Bulldogs. Following Carlton’s touchdown, the Bombers took the kickoff and marched down the field and Josh Hogan scored the first of his four touchdowns on a 5 yard touchdown run, Justin Newman kicked the extra point and Barnum led 7-6.


Carlton fumbled on their next drive and the Bombers capitalized right away scoring 40 seconds later on a 5 yard run from Wyatt Frinifrock and Barnum led 14-6 following a Newman kick. Frinifrock added his second touchdown of the game at the 10:26 mark of the second quarter, the kick was no good and Barnum led 20-6. The Bulldogs fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Barnum recovered and scored a little over a minute later as Hogan would reach the end zone for the second time, the extra point was blocked and the Bomber led 26-6.


The Bombers added one more touchdown before halftime as Bobby Minkkinen hit Hogan on a 23 yard scoring play with 3:35 left in the half. The extra point was blocked for the second straight time and the Bombers led at halftime 32-6. Barnum added two more scores in the second half Hogan added his fourth of the game on an 11 yard run with 7:28 remaining. Minkkinen passed to Newman in the end zone for the two point conversion, and at 3:56 Hector Chavez scored from 10 yards out and that would end the games scoring as Barnum led 46-6.


The Bombers finished the regular season 7-1 overall and the will open the section 7A playoffs at home on Tuesday against this same Carlton Bulldogs squad. The Bulldogs finish the regular season 1-7 overall. These two teams met last year in the section7A quarterfinals and it was Barnum coming away with a victory at home.
