The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels found themselves behind for only the second time this season. The first time they lost to Rush City.
However, on Monday, the Rebels staged a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning as they win 4-3 over the Proctor Rails.

With the Rebels trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, Sam Juhl led the inning off with a walk. She was then forced out at second as Molly Wasche hit into a fielders choice. With one out and Wasche at first, Hillary Peterson walked on four pitches. That was followed by a single by Katie Youngberg, which scored Molly Wasche from second. That cut the Proctor lead to 3-2. With runners still on first and second with one out, Maddy Adamczak laid down a perfect bunt down the third base line, beating the throw to first to load the bases with one out.

Emily Wasche then singled to drive in the tying run from third that left the bases loaded with one out. Step Torgerson, Proctor’s pitcher then recorded her first strikeout of the game as Mary Moonen went down swinging. So with two outs and the bases loaded for Amanda Larson, Torgerson worked the count to three balls and two strikes and with her 3-2 pitch low and in the dirt, the winning run would walk in from third base as the Rebels complete the come-from-behind victory.

Emily Wasche finished with two hits for the Rebels’ victory. Sam Juhl singled in the fourth inning to tie the game at that point at 1-1. Proctor had scored in the top of the first for the only run of the game until that point. The Rails would score runs in the sixth and the seventh inning to lead 3-1 entering the bottom of the seventh.

Moose Lake Willow River improves to 7-1 on the season and they are next in action on Tuesday, hosting McGregor in a Polar League match up. Proctor falls to 3-7 on the season and they will play at Hermantown Tuesday afternoon.
