Predovich – Virginia Down Lumberjacks

May 5

Virginia pitcher Kristen Predovich is making a valiant attempt to live up to her family name. About 6 years ago, Kristen’s sister, Lindsay, was the most dominant pitcher in northern Minnesota and now the younger sibling is fast becoming a star in her own right. On Monday, Predovich fired a one-hitter as the Virginia Blue Devils defeated the Cloquet Lumberjacks 8-0 in high school softball.

Cloquet’s lone hit was by Courtney Esse in the fourth inning. Predovich fanned 12 and helped her own cause with a double.

The Lumberjacks have had a strong start to their season and the team has a huge upside because of their youth. Cloquet starts freshman at second, third, catcher and shortstop, and an eighth grader at first base as well as another freshman in the outfield. The lone seniors are pitcher Katrina Korman and center fielder Alyssa Hanson and the lone starting junior, Courtney Esse.
