Hermantown Shuts Out Esko-Carlton 2-0

Less than three weeks ago it was the Hermantown Hawks falling to the Esko/Carlton Eskomos by a final score of 8-2. On Saturday at Hermantown it was the Hawks exacting some revenge as they shutout the Eskomos by a final score of 2-0.


The win by the Hawks opens up section 7A with the playoffs on the horizon. Now that Esko-Carlton, one of the favorite’s falls in section play there is only one remaining unbeaten team and that is Chisago Lakes. The Wildcats are 5-0 in section play while Esko/Carlton drops to 6-2.


Hermantown got on the scoreboard first at the 5 minute mark when Christina Petsoulis scored a goal with the assist going to Melissa Madison. In the second half it was Madison getting her goal to follow up on her fist half assist. The goal came at the 65 minute mark and the assist went to Mary Francisco.


Alexa Peterson finished with eight saves in the win for Hermantown, while Rachel Ofstie finished with 13 saves for Esko-Carlton. The Hawks move to 6-7-2 overall on the season and they are in action again Monday at Proctor. Esko-Carlton falls to 6-5-1 and will host the Proctor Rails on Tuesday.
