Softball Playoffs Preview

The playoffs are here for the area softball. After a brutal spring that forced several cancellations and caused many teams to play double headers to get their games it, the playoffs are about to begin.

In Section 7AA, the Hermantown Hawks got the top seed in the North Subsection as they will take on the 8th seeded Hibbing Bluejackets at home with a 4:30 PM start. Proctor drew the 4th seed and will play at 4:30 against 5th seeded Eveleth-Gilbert. Also in the North Subsection, the Two Harbors Agates are the 6th seed and will play International Falls and Duluth Marshall is the 7th seed and will square off with the 2nd seeded Virginia Blue Devils.

In the South Subsection, Moose Lake Willow River is the 2nd seeded team and will play Crosby-Ironton. Cloquet will be the 3 seed in the South and plays Aitkin at 4:30 at Braun. Esko will play on the road as they are the 5 seed. They will square off against the 4th seed, Mora.

In the South Section of Section 7A, Floodwood will play the top seeded Cherry Tigers in Zim at 4:30. The Carlton Bulldogs drew the 2 seed and will match-up with the 7th seeded Cook County Vikings in a rematch of last years playoffs. The 3 seeded Silver Bay Mariners will host the 6th seeded Hill City Hornets at 4:30. Lastly, the 4th seed South Ridge Panthers will play No. 5 Northland.

After these first round games are played, the following round will be played on May 22nd. Section 7AA will play in Cohasset and Section 7A will play at Braun Park.
