CLOQUET – It became obvious right from the outset that the Cloquet volleyball team had just too much fire power for the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers. The Jacks rolled out to quick leads in the first two games and pound out a 25-10, 25-14 and 25-10 victory over Duluth Marshall in Cloquet.

With rainy weather outside Cloquet High School Gymnasium the Lumberjacks stormed out of the gates to the tune of an 8-1 lead and continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal in routing the Hilltoppers in the opening game.

Game two action saw more of the same for Cloquet and finally, after falling behind 2-0 in game three, the Jacks hopped on the throttle once more to pull away for an easy and convincing victory.

The Hilltoppers struggled all night long with the serve game of the Jacks which continually handcuffed Marshall. At times Cloquet servers were getting two or three ace serves in a single service game while the Hilltoppers found it difficult to receive and get the ball to their setter and into their offense.

Maddy Kiehn pounded down 9-kills, Emily Fossen and 8-kills and 3-ace serves, Katie Schulz added 5-kills and 6-digs, Kierra Johnson finished with 10-digs and 3-ace serves and Alex Oakes ran an efficient offense with 19-set assists.
