Bombers Top Cromwell Even Record at 5-5

The Barnum Bombers, who lost four of their first five matches this season, have gotten back on the winning track as the Bomber have now won four of their last five, including three wins in the Barnum Invitational this past weekend. On Tuesday night it was the Bombers defeating the Cromwell Cardinals to even their overall record at 5-5, the Cardinal now fall to 7-8 on the season.


The Bombes defeated the Cardinals 3-1. Cromwell won the opening match 26-24, but the Bombers then reeled off three straight to pick up the huge Polar League win in Cromwell on Tuesday night. The scores were 24-26, 26-24, 25-14, and 25-14. The Bombers had also defeated the Cardinals in the Barnum Invitational on Saturday.


Leaders for the Bombers included: Karianna Duesler who had 24 set assists, she was also 11-12 serving for 92%. Jessica Newman led the way with 14 kills on the night, Newman also added 13 digs and three ace serves in the Barnum victory. Jenna Shanda finished with 7 ace serves on the night, she also added 8 digs and was 29-29 serving.


Allainie Hanek-Siltanen finished the night with 8 kills and 12 digs for Barnum; she also was 8-10 serving on the evening with a serving percentage of 80%. Courtney Hunter added 13 digs, and Daron Mainville added 5 kills in the Bomber win.


The Cardinals were paced by Emily Hendrickson who had 8 kills and 8 digs for the Cardinals, Marlene Wester had 8 digs and 2 kills, and Brianna House ended with 9 set assists on the night for the Cardinals.


The Lady Bombers are back in action on Thursday when they play at Silver Bay, and the Cardinals hit the floor Thursday as well when they will travel to Floodwood to face the Polar Bears in another Polar League matchup.
