Cloquet-Esko-Carlton saw firsthand just how good northern Minnesota tennis can be on Monday afternoon in a 6-1 loss to the powerful Virginia Blue Devils.

CEC’s lone win came at #3 doubles when Kristin Chalich and Alyssa Acheson downed their opponents 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) in a wild tie breaker affair.

Kelsey Collier, of CEC, lost at #1 singles to Lexi Gunderson 6-2, 6-3. Taylor Gunderson, of Virginia, beat CEC’s Savanna Ellena 6-1, 6-3 at #2, at #3 it was CEC’s Reilly Kedrowski losing to Sam Silcox and at #4 singles it was Brylee Seitz of Virginia beating Michaela Houser 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles the CEC #1 team of Kalie Shevich and Asha Fritzinger fell 6-0, 6-0 to Hailey Slatten and Megan Skorich and at #3 doubles the CEC team of Lizz Jezierski and Steph Campbell lost 6-2, 6-1 to Val Harvey and Jess Kralich.
