After losing matches to perennial powerhouses Grand Rapids, Eveleth-Gilbert, and Virginia, the CEC girls tennis team was reeling just a bit. The Jacks rebounded Monday with a convincing 5-2 win over Superior, snapping a four game losing streak.

Kelsey Collier and Savannah Elena led the way with wins in #1 and #2 singles beating Natalie Burger and Reya Kosey 6-0, 6-0 and 7-6, 6-3. Michaela Houser topped Christina Johnstad 6-3, 7-5 in #4 singles. The Jacks lone loss came when Reilly Kedrowski lost a hard fought match to Jillisa Gallindo 6-7, 6-2, and 10-5.

CEC did equally well in doubles play with the #1 doubles team of Kalie Shevich and Asha Fritsinger easily handling Superior’s Stephanie Schlais and Kailey Phillips 6-2 and 6-3. #2 doubles Lizz Jezierski and Steph Campbell also had no trouble getting by Jenny Ostrowski and Sarah DeVinck 6-3 and 6-1. Superior’s victory in doubles came with Jessica Engstrom and Keely McCall topping Breanne Baker and Katrina Smith 7-5 and 6-4.

The Jacks will be back at the nets on Thursday when they host the Oredockers of Ashland.
