Proctor-Hermantown Wins Swim Meet – CEC’s Whipple Garners Four Firsts

The Combined efforts of Proctor and Hermantown were enough to overcome four first place finishes by Kayla Whipple of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton as the Rails win the dual meet in Cloquet Thursday afternoon. The final margin of victory was six points as Proctor-Hermantown wins by a final score of 50-44.


Kayla Whipple had an outstanding meet for the Lumberjacks, garnishing first place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle. She was also a part of the 200 and the 400 freestyle relays which both finished first also. Alison Denman, Aimee Goldschmidt and Kristina Ericson were a part of the 200 freestyle relay with Whipple, the 400 relay say Ericson, Denman, Whipple and Whitney Wysocki as part of the first place finishers.


The Proctor-Hermantown Rails were led by several outstanding performances as well, including Sarah Mackereth capturing the 200 freestyle. Angela Donofrio won the 200 individual medley and Jen Asanovich claimed victory in the 100 breaststroke. Natalie Stauber took first place honors in the 100 backstroke and Michelle Bendas took first in the 100 butterfly. Molly Kolquist won the 500 freestyle as well Thursday with a time of 6:21.


The Rails also won the 200 medley relay. The winning members of that relay team were Bendas, Forrest, Jen Carlson, and Vicki Werker, finishing with a time of 2:12 to win the relay. Proctor-Hermantown won their second straight meet as Tuesday they defeated Superior. These two schools will square off again on Thursday afternoon at the next meet in Proctor.
