Duluth East Splits Doubleheader

The Duluth East Greyhounds traveled to square off in doubleheader action on Saturday against Minneapolis South. The Greyhound fell in game 1, 3-2 but bounced back and won the second game 2-1.

In game one, Willem Aldrich would take the loss, going 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits and striking out 3. On the offensive for the Greyhound was Nathaniel Benson who went 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs and Aldrich who went 2 for 3 and drove in both runs in the loss.

In game two, the Greyhounds trailed 1-0 going into the 7th inning. Chris Olson led the inning by taking a walk, he proceeded to steal second base and then scored the tying run after 3 consecutive wild pitches. Nate Schuman would come up in the clutch just a few pitches later when he hit a single which scored the game winning run in the top of the 7th inning. Frankie Hanson went 2 for 3 in the win for the Greyhound and also scored the game winning run.

The Greyhounds are now 4-2 on the season and are scheduled to play the Cloquet Lumberjacks on April 28th if the weather permits.
