April 22nd, 2014

The Carlton Bulldogs softball team traveled down to Chisago Lakes to get their first games of the season in. You could say the trip was well worth it for the Bulldogs as they would come home with 2 victories over the Silver Bay Mariners and the Two Harbors Agates.

In the first matchup, the Bulldogs toppled the Mariners, 11-3. Grace Macor would be the winning pitcher going 7 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits, and striking out 10. The offense was propelled by Hannah Benson, Jessica Stanslaski, and Tori Anderson, all who went 3 for 4 in the victory.

In the second matchup of the day, the Bulldogs and Agates squared off. The game would see the Bulldogs smack past the Agates, 18-4. Macor would pick up her second win of the day pitching another 7 complete innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, walking 2, and racking up another 10 K’s. Stanslaski would propel the offense once again, this time going 3 for 5 and driving in 3.

The Bulldogs kick their season off with a 2-0 record and will hopefully be back in action on Friday when they travel down to Fridley to play the Cook County Vikings and Floodwood Polar Bears in another double header.
