Duluth East Slams By Cloquet

The Duluth East Greyhounds and Cloquet Lumberjacks were back on the tennis courts Monday afternoon. The matchup saw the Greyhounds run away with the win, taking the matches 6-1.

The evening kicked off in singles, starting with Duluth East’s Martin Schneider topping Cloquet’s Christian Pritchett 6-3 in both sets. Elliot Schnieder from Duluth East followed that with a win of his own over Ryan Willgohs, 7-5 in set one and 6-2 in set 2. Duluth East would continue to roll as Luke Hietala toppled Ben Tomhave 6-1 in both sets and EJ Hietala would defeat Anders Perter 6-3 and 2-6 (11-9)

In doubles, Andrew Zimmerman and Ryan Aturaylia from Duluth East would battle Ryan Lind and Rob Sobczak. Lind and Sobczak would take the first set 6-0 but Zimmerman and Aturaylia would battle back to take the next 2 sets 7-5 and 6-4. Duluth Easts Mark Holliday and Derek Boese versus Cloquet’s Joey Gotchnick and Tim Paczynski also saw a 3 set match with Cloquet taking the first on 7-5, but falling in the final two sets 6-3 and 6-2. The final match of the night would see Cloquet avoid the sweep, when Josh Kieth and Peter Tomhave defeated Eric Patterson and Henri LaLiberte 6-4 in both sets.
The next scheduled match is Saturday in Hibbing for the Hibbing Invite.
