Barnum Baseball Pounds East Central

The Barnum Bombers got their bats going in full force Saturday as they pounded out ten extra base hits, downing the Eagles of East Central by a score of 22-8. With the win, the Bombers even their season record at 4-4.

“We hit the ball today,” head coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “Our guys hit the ball hard, found gaps and strung some hits together…It was nice to even our record and now we can look forward to making a run,” Duesler mentioned.

Barnum had seven doubles, two triples and a home run in the hit parade Saturday. Erik Johnson was 3-5 for the Bombers, with a double, a home run and 4 RBIs. Cody Hagenbeck was also 3-5 with two doubles. Kyle Duesler was 2-3 with a double and a RBI. Frankie Barrios was 2-3 with a triple and RBIs. Brody Peterson was 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Alex Hassett was 2-3 with an RBI and Justin Newman was 2-2 with a double and a triple.

Frankie Barrios was the winning pitcher as he pitched four innings. He gave up three hits and had five strikeouts. Erik Johnson pitched the final two innings, striking out three and not giving up a hit.

The Bombers improve their record to 4-4 on the season and are in action again Tuesday, traveling to Silver Bay Mariners to take on the Mariners. The Eagles fall to 2-9 on the season and will play Pillager on Monday at the Metrodome.
